I ordered a bench for around $600.00.It arrived, looked good, but a week or so later, one of our elderly guests sat on it, it swayed and looked ready to collapse.

Thankfully, he did not fall and hurt himself. At closer inspection, the workmanship is spit and bubble gum. I have complained but am told it must be shipped back in its original packaging which I don't have anymore. They will not accept a large box (like the original one) with plastic wrap (identical to how they shipped it to me).

I have been ripped off completely and feel that I have now wasted a lot of money with a company who doesn't care or won't stand behind their product. I see a product liability lawsuit down the road if anyone sits on this "theater prop" and falls.

I have never been treated this way by ANY company from whom I have purchased a product.Horrifying!

I order four lights from these jerks and two days later my client found some other lights that she liked better.I called and asked if I could cancel the order and do an exchange for some other lights.

I was told that since I called and canceled right away that it was not a problem. This person even called the manufacturer while I was on hold to make sure we could cancel the order! The Christmas Holidays came and went and so I finally got back to Lighting Universe (ATG Stores) three weeks later to get the new lights that my client decided on they told me that the original order that I canceled was in process and that I could not cancel the order. I informed them that I had already canceled the order and I told them the representative that I spoke with and they said that she should not have done what she did and the order was non- cancelable.

They told me that I could always resell the lights on ebay. Rude! They told me that the restocking fee was 75% and that they would refund me $425 out of a $1,700 order. I called my credit card company to see if they could help and basically they said that I did not have much of a case because I did not have a order cancelation confirmation number.

Do buy anything from atg stores or Lighting Universe.They are crooks!!

Lighting Universe exceptionally bad customer service

I placed fairly large order on their website which somehow git entered into their system twice - two absolutely identical orders started arriving to my doorsteps couple days later.I called their customer service to notify of situation and asked them to pick up extra items which I did not purchase.

Lighting Universe support was absolutely terrible in handling this matter, they refused to pay for shipment and accused me of placing the same order twice.

I was so disgusted with the way they treated me over the phone that decided to return my original order as well.If I have to pay for their mistakes then might as well take my $ somewhere else.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service!Buyer beware!

They sent me a duplicate order after I had called to cancel it days before the item shipped out. They shipped it anyway and want me to return it at my cost. I tried e-mailing this customer service department and I never received a response so I then called their customer service department (waited on hold for 23 mins.) to try and remedy this situation and when I asked to speak with a manager I was hung up on! I tried to call back and they refused to let me speak with a manager or give me the name of the person I was speaking to.

We just placed 3 orders totaling over $700.

I am going to try my hardest to return all items because I want NOTHING to do with this HORRIBLE company.Please save your money, time, and grief and do not ever order from Lighting Universe/ATGstores.com!

NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS STORE.They are CROOKS.

I ordered a pendant light "in stock" listed on their website. I paid 35 dollar to have it second day shipped. I did not receive shipping info the following day. they said well its not in stock here its at our mfg and it has to come here first it will take 10 to 14 days.

I said to cancel order. (after all their mfg didnt even ship it" they said NO. I requested to cancel order they said "we will see" TO DATE I HAVE NOT RECEVIED REFUND (OR FIXTURE) THEY IGNORE ALL STATUS REQUESTS. THEY ARE A FRAUD DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE EVER.

I PURCHASED THE ITEM(S) FROM CSN LIGHTING AND BELLACORA AND RECIVED THEIM IN THE 2 DAY SHIPPING PROMISED.

Another angry (one time) customer.

This is without question the most laughably bad example of online shopping I have ever experienced.

DO NOT EVER BUY FROM THESE CROOKS

I ordered an item and was told I would be contacted when it was available from the manufacturer. A fwe days later, I received an email saying they had it in their warehouse and they would despatch it two weeks from this date. This was no good to me so I contacted them to cancel the order. Ha!! I was told there was no way I could cancel, despite the fact that it would be sitting in their warehouse for two weeks, they couldn't interrupt the process and would have to ship it out to me regardless. i was told to await receipt and then return it.

As you can see from other comments, this is no mean feat. Doubly difficult is the fact that I am in Canada; I had to pay brokerage fees to import the item which I will never get back and now reading about their deceit re: returns and refunds I would be as well hanging on to the goods. Its not worth it to only get part of the costs refunded.

This is fraudulent and how they get away with it is beyond me. They can thank their lucky stars I'm not anywhere near their ofices ... yet.

Call me an old cynic but its certainly a bit strange that when I've tried to resolve this issue on your site and via your live chat function, nobody could help me and their "hands were tied" but now I've put this review, a man(or woman) with no name tells me to contact him(her) and they'll sort it out?

The issue is very clear and yet nothing could be done. I have contacted your site again directly today and been told to return the goods at my expense, minus restocking fee and I've lost the brokerage fee which shouldn't have been incurred if you'd simply not posted out an item i told you two weeks in advance that i didnt want?!

Your post looks like an attempt to blunt my complaint by making further false claim that you'll sort it out. Your company have been proven to be at best extremely misleading.

A further example is claiming to be Lighting Universe Canada - then I order these goods and find you're not in Canada you're in the States and I have brokerage fees. Or claiming that there'll be no sales tax ... ehmmm I was charged HST on your goods so another mis-representation.

The more I think about it the angrier I'm getting and I dont believe I will let this matter rest at all despite some snake-oil peddler claiming "they will cure it all for me"

Do Not shop at Lighting Universe

Find your fan or lighting elsewhere. If anything is wrong wiht your order, the responsibility will be yours. They are trying to charge a %50 restocking fee for a Fan that was misrepresented as able to hang from a vaulted ceiling. The remaining credit is good for there store only, so they refuse to credit any money back to the customer.

They refuse to listen to any circumstances of the sale, they misrepresent their products and once it;s in your hands you stand to lose a lot of money if you need to return it.

this company should be shut down.

There are plenty of businesses that sell the same productrs and more often then not they are just brokering a deal right from the manufacturer.

Great selection, good prices, very helpful and consultative customer service on the phone - initially. Was it their fault that one of the vendors' products did not fit (base and top - a sconce)? Six weeks later - a jillion emails and phone calls trying to get an RGA (return shipping label to the manufacturer) I've still got no lighting, the full amount on my VISA card, and no satisfaction.

Further, the sales rep clearly lied saying the request for an RGA had been placed, but when I called the manufacturer directly, I learned that was not at all true. So 5 weeks they sat on it.

Not recommended.

Not their fault about the lighting, but extremely poor customer service to follow up.

This is hands down the worst internet vendor out there.Allied Trade Group runs lightinguniverse.com, knobsandhardware.com, decoruniverse.com, floorsandsurfaces.com and several other "middleman" websites that take their profits from fronting manufacturers.

All have the same ripoff style of doing business so beware. (Its's the same customer service email and phone number, and the phone for 'customer service' never gets answered, only the order line.) I lost over $1000 on light fixtures that were delivered in a different style than advertised, and cabinet pulls that were delivered broken, not once but twice. Because I live in Canada, I got nailed with outrageous "import fees" on the delivery as well, much higher than normal, even on the broken pulls that were sent to replace the broken pulls! With 50% restocking fees, you basically can't ever get a fair refund, so you may as well resell the wrong items on ebay.

They put a $500 value on the three replacement pulls for UPS's import fees, which resulted in almost $100 charged to me for replacement of the broken pulls they originally sent, in addition to the original charge and import fees.

Ultimate cost to me was about $250 for 7 useless pulls, or almost $36 dollar per pull worth about $10 if they weren't broken.

Echoing the sentiments of another reviewer: SHOP HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I recently ordered a set of lights from here but due to a confusing interface ended up getting the right model but the wrong finish. When I tried to recitify the mistake they wanted me to pay to ship back the product and charge me a 15% restocking fee.

I finally relented but then my e-mails where ignored.

I called after not receiving a return e-mail after several tries. Turns out they have a 30 day return policy. Even though I had contacted them within a week of receiving the wrong product and made a decision to return the products (with unnecessary penalty) with more than 2 weeks left in the 30 day period they got me one more time. I was told since they had not received my e-mails (which were not bounced so how did they not receive them?) saying I wanted to return the products within 30 days I was now subject to a 50% restocking fee. I complained that I had contacted them and initiated the return within a week of receiving the product. I also stated that I had sent several e-mails within in the 30 day period stating my wish to return the lights with the wrong finish (with 10% penalty) and exchange them for the lights with the right finish. They said they never received them (How convenient for them). I told them I had proof in my sent buffer of the sent e-mails and the fact that they had not bounced. To no avail.

I finally registered a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and saw an avalanche of complaints from other customers that were not resolved. They ended up offering me the same 50% restocking fee as a resolution.

I learned of their dishonest practices to late. So I am posting in hopes of warning off some other consumers. There are many places to buy lights. My advice is to avoid this dishonest vendor. Once again shop at Lighting Universe at your own risk.
